Art on Train Cars #19 "Kita Vs. Theory"

These are the last photos that I took with my old phone before I accidentally dropped it on the cement parking lot, shattering the screen. They're night photos taken without adjusting for the lack of light. CN was about to pull these cars away so I was in a rush, which is probably why I dropped my phone. Oh well, phones only cost hundreds of dollars. Shit.

Art On Train Cars # 98 "Ganja Farmer (THEORY)"

The mid day sun made it kinda hard to get these pictures "just right" but the work here is outstanding. Fact: being on the receiving end of the ganja farmer will slow you down.

Art on Train Cars #3 "KITA: Desert Island Treasure"

I saw this rail car from half a kilometer away and I seriously shit my pants (seriously, but not really). This only got better the closer I got too. This is some serious shit, no doubt. Plus, my new portable telephone's camera does the panoramic thing. So now, when I get to a piece like this, I can get the whole thing in one shot.

Art On Train Cars #31 "Magic Shack Tour"

Working out in Richmond, BC has led me to a few hobo style pieces. Check out the Magic Shack Tour!

I see this one everywhere and I can't figure what this is. I always think of a measuring tape, but I'm pretty sure that's not what it is. I really like the words that this guy adds to his moniker, whenever I see it.

Art on Train Cars #46 "Solo"

More sweet North Vancouver train car graffiti action!
I had to stand in rush hour traffic to get these pictures.

Art on Train Cars #66 "JARUS double bill"

Here's a couple of more realistic type graffiti hits. Realism is not usually
my thing but these really make you sit up and take notice when they roll by you
on a train. I believe these are done by a dude named JARUS. I've seen some other
stuff he's done thanks to the world of google images and let's just say that they're
pretty... pretty... pretty good.

This one was taken by a friend from work who sent it my way. Thanks Troy.

And this one stopped me in my tracks when I saw it. I just love how art, when unexpected, will just break the spell of everyday life. My only regret was that I was unable to get closer to take the picture with my phone. I tried to hunt this car
down for the rest of the day but I'm afraid that CN rolled it away.
Enjoy!

Art on Train Cars #48 "BYOU Dino Train!"

At first glance this didn't seem like much but then my mind zoomed in! Fantastic dinosaur inside the mess! Great colours too. Makes the whole rail car look better.

Art on Train Cars #42 "Frost Moored" and Sketch

Found this out in Tsawwassen on the side of a rail car that came up from the states.

This is a sketched out sketch of my old set up. It used to be at the top of this blog.

Art on Train Cars #9 "The Mennonite Kid"

I hope to God that this is some young Mennonite boy all dressed in the traditional Mennonite clothing who's running his grease pencil up and down these rail cars out on the prairies some where.

Shout out to Abe!

Art on Train Cars #99 "Graffiti Bug" and the Teenage Music Beat

I was taking care of some business down at a local Vancouver terminal when I noticed this bug character on the side of this container rail car. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a robot bug or what? Perhaps a little nano-bot, the kind the military's making to creep into all our homes and spy on us. What ev. They've been watching us for years anyhow.

All that being said I really liked this little guy and can't stop my self from calling it a stink bug. I like to put the word stink on things for some reason. Adds a touch of "human" to things cause we all stink.

Lastly here's an old beat that's pretty long that I made for the Path of Least Resistance stuff. It's long cause it originally had 4 dudes on there rhyming and stealing. Instance, MStile, Mic Wil (also with him scratching), and Speeches Beyond. Here is the Teenage Music Beat with out any of those guys. It didn't really come together.

Art on Train Cars #11 "Sibi Fidens" and a Happy New Year ahead!

"If they need it in Latin, perhaps the provincial motto could be sibi fidens – trusting in oneself..." (Found this after googling sibi fidens).

There it is. Good advice.

Art on Train Cars #37 "Def Bo"

What a treat! I seriously look forward to finding shit like this.
And a few cars later...

...this artist strikes again. I checked the rest of the train but only found
these two only three cars away from each other.

This is the train where I found these pieces, doing it's thing out in Tsawwassen.

Art on Train Cars #25 "Spray Paint Santa" and how could there be Christmas without RUN DMC?

Merry Christmas everyone! Here's some christmas type stuff that's more up my alley than the shit they're pumpin' at the mall. Check the belt buckle on Santa.

This santa is looking extra fine if the train is moving to the left!

Awesome! It wouldn't be Christmas with out RUN DMC and Jam Master Jay (RIP)!

Rap along to their first Christmas classic with this poor quality karaoke version!

Art on Train Cars #88 "She Box", 50% Beat and memories of the 80s.

I found this piece on a sulphur rail car in North Van and it's one of my favorites. It reminds me of the 1980s. I remember back then, going to the PNE and seeing kids walking around with these boomboxes (or Ghetto Blasters as we called them) and giant sheets of cardboard, offering their break dancing services in exchange for food, rides and whatever else they were hoping for.

And a few years later when I started skating, we would take trips in to skate the Broadway Bowls (one of the only three skateparks back then), where fresh Hip Hop would fill the air from the local's stereos as we skated. I was deeply impressed by this.

This beat that I slopped together (and is only half done) reminds me of these times.
Check it out.

50 Percent by Lazar Wolfe The Butcher

Here's a few faded photos from the 80s.

Here's me doing a stinky mute grab off one of our many blast ramps which were all the rage. Notice the S.M.A. Natas board with Gullwing trucks and T Bones. What a kook! Also check the rural, country setting. Backwoods Mission forever!

Tom Cleavely doing a small nose pick on the curb as I wait my turn (in the P.E. shirt) to head past to the "out of photo" ledge. Please notice the "wet pen on photo" technique for labeling the pics. Here you'll see how cool I was by not including the verical back line of the "E". Evidence that this definitely came from the 1980s.

Art on Train Cars # 01 "So Far, So Good" vs. Instance

This sweetheart was the first chalk line hobo tag that I ever noticed. It's my favorite for sure. Wheelchair guy just barely crossing the tracks of a what may be the path of an oncoming train. It's crazy that this one can really make me feel that I need to route for the underdog in this. I imagine that the guy in the wheelchair is in and out of danger down at the train yards and yet he's still "getting up" on all the cars. So far, so good.

And for sounds we have a track that I collaborated with Instance during the Path Of Least Resistance recordings. As he pointed out after, there seems to be too much high end on the over all mix. I'm afraid he's right and I'm also afraid I'm posting it "as is" as is I'm too lazy to go make a better mix right now. The Bob Dylan of Hip Hop will now "take you there".

Art on Train Cars #68 "The Dragonfly"

I do dare say that this little number is a piece of beauty. Warmth on a cold
autumn's day.
