Keno Gras Video Trailer

More music that I made for my friend, Darren Susin and Darren Susin Media. Used here in a trailer for a promo video for Travel Yukon and the festival Keno Gras in Keno, Yukon. More about Keno Gras (lifted from actual promo video) below: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keno Gras, parades, parties and pig roasts to celebrate the last of the lingering midnight sun. Held over the September long weekend in Keno City Yukon, the festival prides itself on being one of music and fun, featuring a variety of bands and other performance artists. Mardi Gras attire is encouraged! ...and the video:

Birds Would Never Sing (Instrumental)

This is an older track. Acoustic guitar, sampled drums, loops from big band record, Fisher Price toy record player, Wurlitzer Organ, foot steps, and sample from talk radio caller all jammed up.

Art on Train Cars #99 "Graffiti Bug" and the Teenage Music Beat

I was taking care of some business down at a local Vancouver terminal when I noticed this bug character on the side of this container rail car. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a robot bug or what? Perhaps a little nano-bot, the kind the military's making to creep into all our homes and spy on us. What ev. They've been watching us for years anyhow.

All that being said I really liked this little guy and can't stop my self from calling it a stink bug. I like to put the word stink on things for some reason. Adds a touch of "human" to things cause we all stink.

Lastly here's an old beat that's pretty long that I made for the Path of Least Resistance stuff. It's long cause it originally had 4 dudes on there rhyming and stealing. Instance, MStile, Mic Wil (also with him scratching), and Speeches Beyond. Here is the Teenage Music Beat with out any of those guys. It didn't really come together.

Art on Train Cars #88 "She Box", 50% Beat and memories of the 80s.

I found this piece on a sulphur rail car in North Van and it's one of my favorites. It reminds me of the 1980s. I remember back then, going to the PNE and seeing kids walking around with these boomboxes (or Ghetto Blasters as we called them) and giant sheets of cardboard, offering their break dancing services in exchange for food, rides and whatever else they were hoping for.

And a few years later when I started skating, we would take trips in to skate the Broadway Bowls (one of the only three skateparks back then), where fresh Hip Hop would fill the air from the local's stereos as we skated. I was deeply impressed by this.

This beat that I slopped together (and is only half done) reminds me of these times.
Check it out.

Here's a few faded photos from the 80s.

Here's me doing a stinky mute grab off one of our many blast ramps which were all the rage. Notice the S.M.A. Natas board with Gullwing trucks and T Bones. What a kook! Also check the rural, country setting. Backwoods Mission forever!

Tom Cleavely doing a small nose pick on the curb as I wait my turn (in the P.E. shirt) to head past to the "out of photo" ledge. Please notice the "wet pen on photo" technique for labeling the pics. Here you'll see how cool I was by not including the verical back line of the "E". Evidence that this definitely came from the 1980s.

Art on Train Cars # 01 "So Far, So Good" vs. Instance

This sweetheart was the first chalk line hobo tag that I ever noticed. It's my favorite for sure. Wheelchair guy just barely crossing the tracks of a what may be the path of an oncoming train. It's crazy that this one can really make me feel that I need to route for the underdog in this. I imagine that the guy in the wheelchair is in and out of danger down at the train yards and yet he's still "getting up" on all the cars. So far, so good.

And for sounds we have a track that I collaborated with Instance during the Path Of Least Resistance recordings. As he pointed out after, there seems to be too much high end on the over all mix. I'm afraid he's right and I'm also afraid I'm posting it "as is" as is I'm too lazy to go make a better mix right now. The Bob Dylan of Hip Hop will now "take you there".

More on the Path.

Here's a few more tracks from The Path of Least Resistance stuff. "Thinkin'" features these guys who go by the names Gemineye and Shortchange. "I Heart Robots" has Mic Wil rapping and scratching. Good times.

Talkin' Cyborg Blues

My first post is one of the tracks that started out as an idea that developed in my head while I was at work. When it was time to put it together it really just fell out and into place. It was going to be a part of a project called Path of Least Resistance that never came to fruition. I was working on it with long time friend Mic Wil. There was an earlier version of this that was done with all Wurlitzer organ. It's now lost for ever. This one does have some Radio Shack "moog" though.
